Merriwa Surgery

Merriwa Surgery needed system upgrades to continue using their practice management software.

Merriwa is a regional town located in the far west of Hunter NSW. As a small town, Merriwa Surgery is one of the only GP practices available to locals, making it incredibly important that software and operating systems are working optimally. To ensure clients are seen in a timely manner and medical data is protected and secure, they engaged Entourage Technology to provide advice and updates to their technology systems.  

An outdated IT system made for inefficiencies and unreliable medical software.

Merriwa Surgery had no IT team actively supporting their business, so the IT side of the practice was becoming increasingly outdated, including their emails which were still run through Gmail. After chatting with the team at Entourage Technology, it became clear that there were 3 main things that needed to be addressed immediately:

• Updates to onsite hardware and operating systems which are critical in running specific practice management software.
• Upgraded workstations to be more modern and mobile, including docks and laptops.
• Update email domains to be more professional and personalised to the business.

Entourage Technology worked with the team to ensure software and hardware could keep up with their busy practice.

Rather than suggesting a general, one-size fits-all solution, our team spent time with Merriwa Surgery to understand their current technology, how they use it and how it could be improved. The team used a collaborative approach with the practice to decipher how best we could improve their technology systems.  

We first updated the workstations, including laptops, so they are more mobile and flexible. We then partnered with Meraki to update the router and network infrastructure, making sure it is secure and appropriate for their remote location.

Updating the business emails from Gmail gave a more professional business image with a personalised domain, while also ensuring emails are secure. We worked with the team at Rhythm Digital to create the domain name and transfer them from the free email service.  

Finally, Entourage partnered with HP Enterprise to replace their operating system with refreshed and current hardware. Backups of the server were also implemented to ensure redundancy and operational uptime.

Merriwa Surgery is now equipped with the IT infrastructure to reliably run their practice.
